Charlevoix was named after Pierre Francois Xavier de Charlevoix, a French explorer who traveled the Great Lakes area. It said he stayed the night on Fisherman’s Island. Charlevoix real estate was permanently settled in the post-Civil War era.
It’s easy to get in and around the residential area of Charlevoix. US 31 is a major highway running through the heart of the city. You’ll also find M-66 to East Jordan and Kalkaska. C-56 will take you toward Boyne City. Charlevoix Municipal Airport (CVX) services the public.
Real Estate in Charlevoix
The historic Chicago Club, formed by several University of Chicago professors in the 1880s, is just one of the several large resort communities that developed Charlevoix real estate around the turn of the 20th century. The area quickly became known as a resort destination. Today you’ll find three summer associations, a number of extravagant hotels, rail transport, and more.
With many Chicago natives coming to the area for generations, a wide variety of influences came, too. Charlevoix homes today leave little to the imagination. You’ll find homes with private gyms, movie viewing rooms, and wine cellars – all seamlessly woven into the finest interior designs. Outdoors you’ll enjoy tennis courts, outdoor entertaining areas, and beautiful shorelines; there is so much to love about Charlevoix real estate.
Many homebuyers start their quest online; the Internet and our MLS is a powerful tool for gathering general information. Though, nothing compares to the in-depth knowledge we can share personally from my 24 years as a Realtor in the Charlevoix and Boyne City area.
